BENEFITS TO MEMBER VENUES
INTRODUCTION

PGA European Tour Courses has successfully hosted more than 25 international tournaments and events and we have enjoyed a direct and successful relationship with the European Tour. This has resulted in our distinguished tournament roll of honour over the past three decades, comprising:
|
|
The three most important parties involved in hosting an international Tour event are the European Tour, the national golf federation and the host venue. In a typical scenario, the Tour sanctions and supervises the running of the tournament, while the federation may supply the volunteers, logistical expertise and resources. The third party, the host venue, is usually selected by the Tour in association with the national golf federation and the title sponsor.
VENUE REQUIREMENTS

In order to receive approval to host a European Tour tournament, the three most important criteria for a venue are as follows:
|
In order to qualify under the first criterion, a venue may be required to make a financial contribution to the Tour/National Federation/Event Owner. Access to sponsorship opportunities for the Event is also important and this is one of many areas where PGA ETC has the expertise and experience to assist a potential tournament venue.
LOGISTICAL REQUIREMENTS

As well as the Tournament Course needing to be designed to and maintained at championship standard, a Tournament Venue needs to have the logistical resources to support the event as well as the spectators. In PGA ETC’s experience, key criteria include:
|
Volunteers, the third criterion, is an important and often-overlooked factor and one of the major reasons why Tour events require the assistance of the national golf federations.
