Domingos Da Silva
In 1989, Mr. da Silva joined Quinta do Lago S.A. as the Executive Director. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to achieve his goal of establishing the resort as the flagship for quality tourism in Portugal and as one of Europe’s premier golfing resorts. He was co-founder and vice-president of the Algarve Hotels and Tourism Enterprises Association (AHETA) and founder of the Tourism Enterprises Association of Loulé Council (AETUL), Loulé being one of the Algarve’s local councils.
The quality of the Quinta do Lago resort has been acknowledged by the Portuguese authorities by the awarding of a number of awards such as: Excellence Award 1994 from the Algarve Regional Tourism Board (RTA); Golf Medal for the Defence of the Environment 1995 from the Loulé Regional Council; Merit Award for Maintaining Quality Tourism in Algarve 1995, which was presented to Mr. da Silva by the RTA; and the National Golf Tourism Medal of Merit 1996 from the Secretary of State for Commerce and Tourism.
From 1974 to 2005, Quinta do Lago has hosted 13 major tournaments, including eight Portuguese Opens, the latter three of which came under Mr. da Silva’s management.
Domingos da Silva acts as a Consultant for PGA European Tour Courses.
