ARMANDO DANIEL DOS REIS: Partner, Planassociados Architects
A Portuguese national, Armando Reis was educated the Morón University in Buenos Aires, Argentina and in the Lisbon Technical University in Portugal. He has worked in China, Argentina and extensively in Portugal in the following areas: town planning; commercial, industrial and private architecture; and the golf and leisure industries.
Major Public Projects of the Practice include:
International: The Execution and Coordination of the Plan for Coastal Development and Ordination of the City of Puerto Madryn (100,000 inhabitants) - contract with the School of Architecture of Morón and the Chubut Provincial Government. Project approved by the Provincial Government, Argentina.
Quinta do Lago: Responsible for the town planning and management of the Quinta do Lago Enterprise as consultant for Planal, S.A. (Today QUINTA DO LAGO, S.A.) since 1992; Totta & Açores Bank – Quinta do Lago branch; Casa do Lago Restaurant; San Lorenzo Town Planning (26 plots) – Quinta do Lago; Atlântico Norte Town Planning (38 plots); Quinta do Lago Golf Club; Quinta do Lago Golf Shop; Car Park and Access Bridge to Quinta do Lago beach; Remodelling of San Lorenzo Golf Club Shop, Bar and Restaurant for Le Meridien Group; and the Casa Velha Restaurant.
Portugal: Principal Technician at the Coordination Commission for the Algarve Region at the Territorial Ordination Regional Management (1988 – 1992); Renovation of existing building – Social Head Office of Águas do Barlavento Algarvio (Algarvian Windward Waters) – Silves; Boliqueime Football Stadium – Boliqueime, Loulé; Alteration of the existing Old Mill Factory Block in Faro – 3 Apartment Buildings (14 Storeys each) and Commercial Centre – Faro; 5 Star Hotel – Totta & Açores Group – Portimão; and the 5*RIU Group Hotel in Portimão.
Major International Awards to the Practice include: 1st Prize in the Private Contest for Urbanistic Proposal for the Island of Hainan, promoted by the Government of Hainan – China, 2005; 1st Prize in the Public Contest for the House of Arts and Public Garden in Albufeira, promoted by the Municipality of Albufeira, 1997; 1st Prize in the Public Contest for the Restructure of 4 Roundabouts in Albufeira, promoted by the Municipality of Albufeira, 1997; 1st Prize in the Private Contest for the exterior areas of Faro International Airport, promoted by A.N.A. – Portugal, 1995;1st Prize in the Public Contest for the Beneficiation Study for the Surrounding area of the Salir Main Church – Municipality of Loulé; 1st Prize in the Public Contest for the Beneficiation Study for the Old Salir Primary School and Surrounding area - Municipality of Loulé; and 1st Prize in the Municipal Architecture Contest 1993, promoted by the Municipality of Faro and Portuguese Architects Association (OA), in recognition of the contribution towards the improvement of the quality of the architectural patronage of Faro Council.
